ReadingRead at least 20 minutes every night
The more your child reads, the larger his vocabulary will be, the better he will perform on learning tasks and tests, and the better his writing will be.There are many ways to have your child read each night. He/She may read independently, a parent or other family member can read to your child, or you can share the reading. Those are just a few options, but the possibilities are many. Regardless of the way your child reads each day, it is a good idea to ask a few questions after your child has read, or if you are reading with your child, you can ask questions along the way. Your child will have a handout in his/her SHIPs log to help you with questioning. This is a place to start, but do not feel limited to those questions.
